Yes, we know! You see it all around the internet, every single human on the face of the planet is talking about it and whatnot. After 17 long years of an entirely colonized, digital realm being referred to as Facebook, the parent company behind the burgeoning social media platforms such as Facebook, Oculus, Instagram, and WhatsApp have decided to go by a new name.

Well, as always, we have people all over the world speculating the real reason behind the sudden rebranding. Trust us when we say this, Rebranding is very crucial for a brand with regards to expansion. A lot of facets have to be looked at and usually what you see on the surface is far from reality. We recently rebranded as well and to be completely transparent with you, it was the best decision we could have taken for our brand. Sure, it is a risk, but one that is worth taking.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook broke the news at the brand’s AR/VR-focused connect event. The reason he stated for the sudden rebranding was to build a metaverse, sharing that the new name captured the essence of the company’s core values.

“To reflect who we are and what we hope to build, I am proud to announce that starting today, our company is now Meta. Our mission remains the same — it’s still about bringing people together. Our apps and our brands — they’re not changing either.”, Mark Zuckerberg said. “From now on, we’re going to be metaverse-first, not Facebook-first.”, He added.

If you have been in the loop of news in recent times, you may be aware of the fact that Facebook has been under extreme scrutiny after a series of scandalous events like their approach to handling user data and policing of abuses. Some speculate this being the reason for the shift but who are we to say?

Meta elucidates that the corporate structure is going to remain constant with an alteration in its financial results that will now be reported as two separate operating structures: Family of Apps and Reality Labs. As far as trading is concerned, it will commence from December 1, 2021.

Facebook has always been an integral part of all our lives. Do you think this corporate rebranding decision will change anything? Is it a gimmick or is it going to give the audience a better experience? Comment your thoughts and opinions down below, we would love to know what you feel about this!
